Gumti Darwaza

Gumti Darwaza, also known as Gumti Gate, is a historical monument in Gour, West Bengal, India, dating back to the early 16th century. Built around 1512, it served as the eastern gateway to the citadel of Gaur-Lakhnauti, the capital of the Bengal Sultanate. This remarkable example of Sultanate architecture features a square plan with thick walls, four doorways, and is adorned with colorful tiles reminiscent of the Lattan Mosque. The gate is a protected monument under the Archaeology Survey of India, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in the region's rich history and architectural heritage.
