ENIAC programmers - among the first computer programmers

At the Moore School in 1945–1946 six women (Kay McNulty, Betty Jennings, Betty Snyder, Marlyn Wescoff, Frances Bilas, and Ruth Lichterman) were hired to operate and program ENIAC; their work is documented as among the earliest examples of electronic computer programming. They translated numerical problems into machine operations by setting switches and patching cables, developing techniques that would evolve into programming practices. Historical research and museum exhibitions now recognize their technical contributions to early computing.
