Vestergade 14

Vestergade 14 is a historic building located at the intersection of Vestergade and Larsbjørnsstræde in Copenhagen's Latin Quarter. This property, along with its neighbor at No. 16, has been protected since 1939. The site has a rich history dating back to 1388, originally part of a larger estate owned by Herstedvester Church. It has undergone numerous transformations, including being rebuilt after the devastating fires of 1728 and 1795. The current structure was commissioned in 1796 by tobacco manufacturer Hans Bredahl and features a distinctive architectural design with five bays facing Vestergade and a chamfered corner. Notable residents have included surgeons, merchants, and even a counter admiral, making it a fascinating site for both tourists and researchers interested in Copenhagen's architectural and social history.
