White Rock Lake dam (White Rock Creek)

White Rock Lake was created in 1911 when the city of Dallas dammed White Rock Creek to form the reservoir. The impoundment includes an earthen dam with a concrete spillway located within White Rock Lake Park. The lake originally served as a municipal water supply and was later retained for recreation, flood control, and urban habitat management. The dam and spillway remain visible near the park facilities along Lawther Drive.
