West End neighborhood demolition (1950s–1960s)

Beginning in the late 1950s, Boston's West End was largely razed under a federally funded urban renewal program; much of the neighborhood's 19th- and early-20th-century housing stock and street fabric were demolished. Thousands of residents were displaced and the community that once occupied the area effectively disappeared.
