Edificio London París

The Edificio London París, located at the bustling intersection of 18 de Julio Avenue and Río Negro in Montevideo, Uruguay, is a historic building completed between 1905 and 1908. Designed in an eclectic style, it was one of the first tall structures in the city and originally served as the headquarters for the iconic London París department store, the first of its kind in Uruguay. The building features a distinctive zinc cupola topped with an Atlas figure, symbolizing the Standard Life insurance company. After the store's closure in 1966, the building underwent several renovations and now houses office spaces and retail outlets, including a McDonald's on the ground floor. Its architectural significance and rich history make it a noteworthy stop for tourists and researchers alike.
