Alamo Cenotaph (The Spirit of Sacrifice)

The Alamo Cenotaph, commonly called The Spirit of Sacrifice, is a public monument by sculptor Pompeo Coppini unveiled in 1939 on the grounds of the Alamo. The limestone and bronze memorial features high-relief panels depicting scenes from the 1836 Battle of the Alamo and lists the names of many Texan defenders. It stands prominently in Alamo Plaza as a focal point of public commemoration adjacent to the Alamo Church.
