Colonel O.R. Hood House

The Colonel O. R. Hood House, located in Gadsden, Alabama, is a historic residence built in 1904 by notable figure Oliver Roland Hood, an attorney and one of the founders of the Alabama Power Company. Designed in Classical Revival style with Victorian elements, the house features a striking double-height portico supported by Ionic columns. After Hood's death in 1951, it became the property of the Woman's Club of Gadsden. The house is recognized for its architectural significance, listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers interested in Alabama's history and architecture.
