Atlanta Cabana Motel

The Atlanta Cabana Motel, opened in 1958 and demolished in 2002, was a landmark motor hotel in Midtown Atlanta, known for its modern architecture and vibrant design influenced by Miami's hotel scene. Developed by casino mogul Jay Sarno, it featured a unique rococo modernism style with colorful decor and a distinctive turquoise tile wall. The motel played a notable role during the Civil Rights Movement, facing lawsuits for denying service to black patrons. Over the years, it transitioned through various ownerships and names, ultimately succumbing to deterioration before being replaced by the Spire residential tower.
