Needham (Farmville, Virginia)

Needham is a historic house located near Farmville, Virginia, built in 1802. This two-story dwelling features a central hall plan and has historical significance as the former home of educator and politician Creed Taylor, who established one of Virginia's earliest law schools on the estate. The school trained notable figures, including the son of U.S. President John Tyler and several future Congressmen. Although the law school closed in the 1840s, Needham remains a site of historical interest, listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1988, with a state marker commemorating its educational legacy.
