Emancipation Park

Emancipation Park was established in 1872 by formerly enslaved people as a gathering place to celebrate Juneteenth and remains a central cultural site in the Third Ward neighborhood. The park includes recreational facilities and a community center, and it hosts annual Juneteenth events and other community programming. It is widely recognized as Houston's oldest park and a historic neighborhood landmark.
