The Driskill Hotel

The Driskill Hotel opened in 1886 and was built by Texas cattleman Jesse Driskill in a Romanesque Revival style. It was constructed using native Texas stone and features an ornate marble staircase and elaborately decorated lobby. The Driskill is one of Austin's oldest continuously operating hotels and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has long been a social and political gathering site in downtown Austin.
