Toyota Center replaced Compaq Center as Rockets' home in 2003

Toyota Center opened in 2003 and became the new downtown home of the NBA's Houston Rockets, replacing the nearby Compaq Center (originally The Summit). The arena has hosted Rockets regular-season and playoff games since opening and also serves as a venue for concerts and other sporting events. Toyota Center's opening marked the Rockets' move from their previous arena to a modern downtown facility.
