Cottage (68 Stephen Street)

68 Stephen Street is a heritage-listed cottage located in South Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, and is one of the earliest surviving dwellings in the area, built in the mid-1860s for Charles Taylor, a well-sinker. Constructed from laterite, a unique material in Toowoomba, the cottage originally featured four rooms and has undergone several modifications over the years, including the addition of a bathroom and kitchen in the 1920s. The site reflects the historical development of Toowoomba, which transitioned from a swampy area to a thriving town in the 19th century.
