Lockyear College

Lockyear College, originally established as Columbian Business College in 1893 in Evansville, Indiana, is a historic site that reflects the evolution of business education in the United States. Renamed after Melvin H. Lockyear in 1897, the college expanded and moved to a Classical Revival style building on Fifth Street in 1911. Although it opened a branch in Indianapolis in 1975, financial difficulties led to its closure in 1991, and the main building was demolished in 1993. The college was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
