Rittenhouse Square

Rittenhouse Square is one of the five original public squares laid out in William Penn's 1682 plan, originally called Southwest Square and renamed in 1825 for astronomer David Rittenhouse. The park is a central green space for the Rittenhouse neighborhood and hosts seasonal events, markets, and community gatherings. The square's surrounding residential and commercial blocks have long been associated with Philadelphia's upscale neighborhood identity.
