Cyclorama Building (Boston)

The Cyclorama Building, constructed in 1884 in Boston's South End, is a remarkable example of Classical Revival architecture and was once home to the famous Cyclorama of the Battle of Gettysburg. Designed by Charles Amos Cummings and Willard T. Sears, its impressive 127-foot diameter dome was the largest in the U.S. at the time. Initially a venue for viewing large-scale paintings, it later transformed into a popular entertainment hub featuring activities like roller skating and boxing. The building has served various purposes over the years, including industrial use, and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Today, it is operated by the Boston Center for the Arts, making it a significant cultural landmark for visitors and researchers alike.
