Old South Meeting House - gatherings before the Tea Party

Old South Meeting House at 310 Washington Street was the site of large public meetings in the fall of 1773 during which colonists debated responses to the Tea Act; these gatherings helped precipitate the Boston Tea Party. The building dates to 1729 and served as a Puritan meeting house and later a center for political assembly in revolutionary-era Boston. Today it operates as a museum interpreting colonial and Revolutionary history and maintains exhibits about the events that led to the Tea Party.
