Farmers and Merchants Bank of Los Angeles

The Farmers and Merchants Bank, established in 1871, is a historic site located in Downtown Los Angeles, known for its stunning Classical Revival architecture and significant role in the city's economic history. Founded by prominent local businessmen, it was the first incorporated bank in Los Angeles and survived numerous economic crises due to its conservative lending practices. The bank's 1905 building, designed by Morgan and Walls, features a grand facade reminiscent of a Roman temple, complete with Corinthian columns. Today, it is recognized as a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument and serves as a venue for special events and film shoots, preserving much of its original interior design.
