Albertus Building

The Albertus Building, also known as the Gutenberg Haus or 'The Rathskeller', is a historic structure in Guttenberg, Iowa, built around 1855 from locally quarried limestone. Notable for its unique pointed arch doorways and windows, it originally served both commercial and residential purposes, housing stores on the first floor and later becoming fully residential by 1894. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and is part of the Front Street Historic District, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
