Heidelberg Hotel

The Heidelberg Hotel, operational from 1922 to 1974 in Jackson, Mississippi, was a landmark establishment known for being the state's first fireproof building and breaking racial barriers by allowing African-Americans to book rooms in 1964. It hosted significant events, including John F. Kennedy's first southern speech in 1957 and the inaugural concert of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra in 1944. Despite its historical significance and renovations over the years, the hotel closed in 1974 due to financial difficulties and was ultimately demolished in 1977.
