Star Apartments

The Star Apartments, located in the heart of Skid Row, Los Angeles, is a pioneering housing complex designed specifically for the long-term homeless population. Opened in October 2014, it features 102 units with modern amenities including on-site medical services, counseling, fitness facilities, and a community garden. Developed by the Skid Row Housing Trust and designed by Michael Maltzan Architecture, the building is notable for its innovative use of pre-fabricated construction and has achieved LEED Platinum certification. The Star Apartments not only provide housing but also serve as a model for supportive living environments, aiming to foster community interaction and improve the quality of life for its residents. With a mission to end homelessness in Los Angeles, it is part of a broader initiative to create permanent supportive housing for vulnerable individuals.
