The Heidelberg Project

The Heidelberg Project is an outdoor community art environment on Heidelberg Street created by artist Tyree Guyton beginning in 1986. Its brightly painted houses, decorated objects, and large-scale installations have drawn international media attention and frequent photography by visitors. Some installations have been removed by city authorities and several structures have been damaged by arson; its public, visual nature has made it a recurring subject of viral social-media posts.
