Casa de Estudillo and the 'Ramona' association

Casa de Estudillo is an early Spanish colonial adobe in Old Town San Diego long associated in local myth with the heroine of Helen Hunt Jackson's novel Ramona; some versions of the legend claim the fictional Ramona lived there or that her ghost appears. Historians note the Ramona connection is literary and debated rather than documentary fact. The house is preserved as part of Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.
