Federal Aviation Administration Records Center

The Federal Aviation Administration Records Center, located in Martinsburg, West Virginia, is a historic building that once served as the United States Courthouse and Post Office from 1895 to 1961. Designed in the Richardson Romanesque style by architect Willoughby J. Edbrooke, the structure is notable for its blast-resistant construction and historical significance. After its federal functions ceased, the building was repurposed by the FAA in 1970 as an emergency relocation center, particularly during the Cold War. Today, it is part of the Downtown Martinsburg Historic District and has been partially renovated as an arts center, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
