Fort Worth Water Gardens (design and 2004 safety changes)

The Fort Worth Water Gardens at 1502 Commerce St, designed by architect Philip Johnson, contain distinct water features known as the Active Pool, Aerating Pool, and Quiet Pool. In April 2004 three teenagers drowned in the Active Pool, an event that prompted the city to reduce water flow and implement additional safety measures at the site. Following modifications, the Water Gardens were reopened and remain a noted piece of late 20th-century civic architecture adjacent to the Fort Worth Convention Center.
