Julien Hall (Boston)

Julien Hall, built in 1825 in Boston, Massachusetts, was a vibrant venue for public events until 1843. Located at the intersection of Congress Street and Milk Street, it hosted a diverse range of activities including lectures by notable figures like Red Jacket and William Lloyd Garrison, temperance and political meetings, auctions, and exhibitions featuring live animals and artworks. The hall was also famous for performances of unique attractions such as an automaton chess player and the panharmonicon. Originally known as 'Congress Hall' and built on the site of Julien's Restorator, it featured two spacious halls with a central cupola providing natural light. By 1842, it had even been transformed into an athletic gymnasium by boxer John Sheridan, showcasing its adaptability and significance in the community.
