Old Corner Bookstore

The Old Corner Bookstore building at 283 Washington Street was the 19th-century publishing house and business address for Ticknor and Fields and other prominent American publishers. It became a central hub of American literary life, associated with authors such as Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Nathaniel Hawthorne. The historic façade survives in Boston's Downtown Crossing and the building is listed as a historic site.
