Exeter Exchange

The Exeter Exchange, a notable building in London constructed in 1676, was renowned for its menagerie that operated from 1773 until its demolition in 1829. Originally housing shops and offices, it transformed into a popular attraction featuring exotic animals like lions and tigers, drawing visitors including famous poets and artists. The menagerie was managed by various impresarios and became a winter quarters for circus animals. After its closure, the animals were relocated to the London Zoo. Today, the site is home to the Strand Palace Hotel, marking a rich history of entertainment and urban development in central London.
