Mission Dolores chapel survived the 1906 earthquake and fires

The adobe chapel of Mission San Francisco de Asís survived the 1906 earthquake and the widespread fires that destroyed much of San Francisco, while many surrounding structures were lost. Although the mission sustained damage and required repairs, the late 18th-century adobe church remained standing and continued to serve as a parish and historic landmark. Its survival is frequently noted in historical accounts of the disaster.
