Eastern Market (Victorian-era public market)

Eastern Market was constructed in 1873 and designed by German-American architect Adolf Cluss, representing Victorian-era market architecture on Capitol Hill. The complex of brick halls and cast-iron elements has continuously housed a public food market, vendors, and community events since the 19th century. After a damaging fire in 2007, the market underwent restoration and reopened major sections to the public in 2009.
