Mapparium (Mary Baker Eddy Library)

The Mapparium is a three-story stained-glass globe installed inside the Mary Baker Eddy Library in 1935 and designed by Chester Lindsay Churchill. Visitors walk through the interior on a suspended catwalk to view the globe from within, a rare large-scale example of stained-glass cartographic work. The installation is noted for its unique acoustical properties (a whispering-gallery effect) and remains a fixed exhibit within the library building.
