Sweetbriar

Sweetbriar is a historic Neoclassical mansion located in West Fairmount Park, Philadelphia, built in 1797 by Samuel Breck. The mansion features a stunning interior with a double parlor, floor-to-ceiling windows offering picturesque views of the Schuylkill River, and an impressive collection of period furnishings including Chinese armorial porcelain and Adam style furniture. Notable artworks, such as bird prints by John James Audubon, adorn the walls. After serving as a venue for the Modern Club of Philadelphia from 1939 to 2014, Sweetbriar is currently closed for renovations as the city seeks a new organization to manage this architectural gem.
