Hilton Palacio del Rio - modular hotel from HemisFair '68

Hilton Palacio del Rio was built to house visitors to HemisFair '68 and is notable for its modular construction: guest rooms were pre-built off-site and installed into the tower during construction. The hotel opened in 1968 on the San Antonio River Walk and has remained a downtown lodging landmark since. Its construction method attracted engineering and architectural attention at the time and is often cited in accounts of HemisFair-era development.
