The Athenaeum (Das Deutsche Haus)

The Athenaeum, originally called Das Deutsche Haus, was built in 1893 for Indianapolis’s German-American social and cultural organizations in a German Renaissance Revival style. It has long served as a cultural and social center and contains the Rathskeller restaurant and multiple function rooms. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a prominent example of the city's German-American heritage.
