Henriette Melchiors Stiftelse

Henriette Melchiors Stiftelse is a historic building located in central Copenhagen, Denmark, at the intersection of Snaregade and Naboløs, overlooking the picturesque Gammel Strand canal. Originally constructed in the late 18th century for the Jewish merchant Lion Israel after the Copenhagen Fire of 1795, the building has a rich history. In 1861, it was transformed into a charitable institution by Israel's grandson, Moses Melchior, providing affordable housing for widows of scientists and artists, named in honor of his sister, Henriette Melchior. The building was officially listed as a protected site in 1918, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Copenhagen's architectural and cultural heritage.
