Archbishop's Palace of Paris

The Archbishop's Palace of Paris, originally built in 1161, served as the residence for the Archbishop of Paris and was located near the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral. Over the centuries, it underwent significant transformations, particularly under Cardinal de Noailles in 1697. The palace played a notable role during the French Revolution, hosting meetings of the Constituent Assembly before being repurposed for medical use. Tragically, it was destroyed by a mob in 1831. Although architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc proposed a new design for the palace in 1859, the project was never realized. Today, the site remains a point of historical interest for tourists and researchers alike.
