Casa de la Panadería

The Casa de la Panadería, located on the north side of Plaza Mayor in Madrid, is a historic municipal building known for its striking architecture and rich history. Constructed in 1619 by Juan Gómez de Mora, it has undergone several reconstructions due to fires, with significant renovations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The building originally served as a bakery and later housed various cultural institutions, including the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Today, it hosts the Madrid Tourist Board and features a beautifully decorated facade with frescoes by artist Carlos Franco, depicting mythological figures intertwined with Madrid's history. Visitors can admire the Spanish coat of arms from the reign of Carlos II, adding to the building's historical significance.
