Oak Place (Huntsville, Alabama)

Oak Place, also known as the Steele-Fowler House, is a historic residence in Huntsville, Alabama, built in 1840 by architect George Steele. This Greek Revival-style house features a unique three-story design that appears as two due to its interior layout. Notable for its low hipped roof and a portico supported by Doric columns, the house boasts a central entrance hall and a grand ballroom with high ceilings. Although it underwent changes when converted to a church school, Oak Place remains a significant architectural landmark and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
