Kintner–Withers House

The Kintner–Withers House, also known as Cedar Farm, is a historic site located along the Ohio River in Boone Township, Harrison County, Indiana. Built in 1837 by Jacob Kintner and his wife Elizabeth, this antebellum plantation-style complex is one of only two remaining in Indiana, originally spanning 600 acres and later expanding to 1000 acres. The property features a Classic-Revival main house adorned with Roman Doric columns, alongside various outbuildings including barns, a cookhouse, and a schoolhouse. The house has survived significant floods, including the devastating Ohio River flood of 1937. After being preserved by William and Gayle Cook in 1984, the house underwent restoration and is now recognized on the National Register of Historic Places. Its charming light yellow exterior with white trim and green shutters makes it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
