The Modern News Building, located at 216 North Main Street in Harrisburg, Arkansas, is a historic commercial structure built in 1896. Originally serving as the home of The Modern News newspaper until 2018, the building features a simple brick design with a flat roof and ceramic-tiled side walls. Over the years, it has undergone several expansions and modifications, including a facade update in 1953. The building is notable for its local folklore, including the story of a printing press that was buried beneath the floor. Today, it operates as an event venue while housing a collection of historical newspapers, including original prints of The Modern News and The Arkansas Tribune. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976 and remains a cherished landmark in the community.
