Jetwing Vil Uyana

Jetwing Vil Uyana is a unique boutique eco hotel located in Sigiriya, Sri Lanka, renowned for its commitment to sustainability and environmental design. Opened in 2006, the hotel transformed an abandoned paddy field into a vibrant 28-acre wetland, inspired by London's Barnes Wetland. Designed by environmental architect Sunela Jayawardena, it features 36 dwellings categorized by five distinct habitats: forest, marsh, paddy, garden, and lake, with some accommodations built on stilts. The hotel has been recognized as one of the world's best eco-hotels by Condé Nast Traveller in 2023 and offers a range of amenities, including a restaurant, casual dining cafe, and a bar, all set against a backdrop of rich biodiversity, including 157 bird species and various mammals. Jetwing Vil Uyana also supports local youth through its development project, enhancing both community and environmental sustainability.
