Binion's and the World Series of Poker origin

Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel (originally Binion's Horseshoe) at 128 E Fremont St hosted the first World Series of Poker in 1970 and remained the event's longtime home through the early 2000s. The tournament's modest downtown beginnings at Binion's are well documented in poker histories and media.
