Quinta Heeren

Quinta Heeren, located in Barrios Altos, Lima, Peru, is a historic quinta dating back to the 1880s, originally known as Quinta del Carmen. Inspired by Paris's Parc Monceau, it was developed by German merchant Óscar Heeren and has served as a residence for notable figures, including politicians and diplomats from various countries. The architecture reflects Austro-Hungarian historicist style with Victorian influences, featuring gardens, narrow streets, and remnants of its past, including a former zoo and tennis court. Over the years, it has transformed from an elite enclave to a vibrant community, rich in stories of Creole festivals and local history. The site was acquired by the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima in 2025, preserving its cultural significance.
