McCord House

The McCord House, also known as the McCord-Oxner House, is a historic Greek Revival style cottage located in Columbia, South Carolina, built in 1849. This charming 1½-story home features a distinctive one-story portico and has historical significance as it served as the headquarters for General Oliver O. Howard during the Civil War. Originally owned by prominent figures David James McCord and his wife Louisa Susannah Cheves McCord, the house reflects the rich cultural heritage of the area. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and is currently owned by South Carolina's Governor Henry McMaster.
