Ether Dome - first public demonstration of ether anesthesia

The Ether Dome at Massachusetts General Hospital was the site of the first public demonstration of surgical ether anesthesia on October 16, 1846. The amphitheater is preserved on the hospital's second floor and interpreted as a landmark in medical history.
