Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum

The Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum, located in Storrs, Connecticut, is a 2,000-seat hockey arena that has served as the home and practice facility for the University of Connecticut's men's and women's ice hockey teams. Opened in 1998, it replaced the older UConn Ice Arena and was part of a state initiative to enhance university facilities. The arena has hosted several significant tournaments, including the MAAC Championship and the Hockey East Women's Tournament. While the men's team transitioned to the PeoplesBank Arena in 2014, they returned to the Forum during the 2020-21 season due to the pandemic. The women's team played there until 2022, after which the venue was repurposed for UConn volleyball in 2024, showcasing its adaptability and ongoing importance to the university's athletic programs.
