South Station

Opened in 1899 as Boston's union station, South Station has been the city's primary intercity rail terminal since its construction. The Beaux-Arts headhouse and large rail shed historically accommodated multiple railroads and extensive passenger traffic. Today the facility continues to serve Amtrak, commuter rail, intercity buses, and local transit at a single downtown complex.
