Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse

The Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse, a defunct multi-purpose arena in Huntington, West Virginia, was built in 1950 and could seat 8,500 spectators. It served as a key venue for sports and community events, including a memorial service for the victims of the 1970 Marshall University air tragedy. The Fieldhouse hosted Marshall University's basketball teams until 1981 and was a popular site for boxing and wrestling. After its closure in 2012, the arena was demolished to make way for new athletic facilities, including the Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex. The site remains a significant part of local history, reflecting the community's resilience and dedication to honoring veterans.
