The Toronto Police Headquarters, located at 40 College Street, is a striking example of Postmodern architecture completed in 1988. This twelve-story building, characterized by its glass block and pink granite design, serves as the first purpose-built police headquarters in Toronto since 1835. Visitors can admire its impressive ten-storey atrium and unique octagonal tower. The site has a rich history, previously housing the Central YMCA before its transformation into a police headquarters. Notably, the building has been colloquially nicknamed 'the Pink Palace' by officers. The headquarters also features an exclusive Executive Officers Lounge, which has recently faced scrutiny and will be closing. This landmark not only represents the city's law enforcement but also reflects Toronto's architectural evolution.
